Louis Vuitton was born in Eastern France in 1821. During his teenage years, he was known for his master craftsmanship. By the time he was 30, the wife of Napoleon lll, Empress Eugénie de Montijo hired Vuitton as her personal box maker. In 1854, Louis opened his own box store in Paris. More than a hundred years later the company would rise to become a multibillion dollar company. In 1896, Georges Vuitton, Louis Vuitton's son created the monogram canvas which is one of the most recognizable brands in the world. During the early 1900's, the company introduced a variety of bags including the iconic Keepall.
